College Tennis News - Longhors notche six wins on final day of Miami Spring Invite

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Texas senior two-time All-American Aeriel Ellis and first-semester freshman Breaunna Addison each completed perfect weekends of singles play with straight-sets wins Sunday at the Miami Spring Invite.

Ellis completed an impressive 2013 opening weekend by handily defeating Miami’s 51st-ranked Kelsey Laurente, 6-3, 6-1. She finishes the Miami Spring Invite with three wins, and two of those came over opponents ranked in the ITA top-60.

Addison, a south Florida native playing in her first matches as a Longhorn this weekend, went three-for-three in singles play and wrapped the event with a 6-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) win over Miami’s 57th-ranked Lina Lileikite.

Sophomore Noel Scott scored her second singles win in as many days after finishing off Miami’s Melissa Bolivar, 7-6, 6-2. Texas picked up a fourth singles win Sunday from Annat Rabinovich, who defeated Vanderbilt’s Megan Gomet, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8).

Texas went on to split its four doubles matches against Vanderbilt. Rabinovich and sophomore Lina Padegimaite posted an 8-0 win over Vanderbilt’s Georgina Sellyn and Frances Altick. Junior Juliana Gajic and freshman Lana Groenvynck added an 8-7 win over Vanderbilt’s Maggie Leavell and Gomet.

Texas opens the 2013 dual-match season on Saturday, Jan. 26 when it hosts Wichita State in the first match of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend event. First serve is set for 10 a.m. CT at UT’s Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
