SEATTLE -- Washington returns home this week for a pair of matchups versus West Coast Conference teams. Wednesday, the Dawgs welcome No.7 Pepperdine to the Nordstrom Tennis Center at 3 p.m. Friday, Washington will host Portland at 5 p.m.
Washington is 2-1 early in 2013 season after a tough roadtrip to
Tulsa last weekend. The Dawgs began the weekend with an epic victory over No. 17 Tulsa, coming from behind and winning on a third-set tiebreak from Max Manthou at No. 4 singles. A day later, Washington fell to No. 23 Texas.
Among the highlights of the weekend was Kyle McMorrow moving to 3-0 at No. 1 singles for the season. He also moved into 10th place at UW on the all-time list with 80 wins.
Wednesday, UW will face No. 7
Pepperdine who is 1-0 after opening with a win over Pacific. The Waves are led by Sebastian Fanselow who is ranked sixth nationally in singles. Pepperdine leads the all-time series with a 7-3 record against Washington.
On Friday, Washington will put their 50-0 all-time record against Portland on the line. The Pilots will be playing its first dual match of the season, but had a strong fall, including Michael Hukwo who advanced to the final at the PNW Intercollegiates.
This week's matches begin a stretch of five-straight home duals, followed by the Huskies hosting the ITA National Team Indoors from February 15-18.
