STANFORD, Calif.- No. 10 Stanford posted a 4-2 victory over No. 27 Texas Tech on Saturday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium to close out ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
The Cardinal (2-1, 0-0 Pac-12) bounced back successfully following a 4-0 loss to No. 26 Texas A&M on Friday afternoon.
Tied at 2-2, Stanford received victories from Nolan Paige at the No. 3 spot and John Morrissey at the No. 1 position to secure the match.
Stanford claimed a hard-fought doubles point, coming away with wins on courts one and three.
After Texas Tech evened the match at 1-1, Maciek Romanowicz pushed Stanford in front 2-1 following a 6-1, 7-5 win over Gabriel Wanderley at No. 4.
The Red Raiders then picked up another point to make it 2-2.
But Paige outlasted Francisco Zambon 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot, shortly before Morrissey hung on for a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 triumph over Vitor Manzini at No. 1.
Stanford is back in action on Friday, Feb. 1, hosting BYU at 1:30 p.m.
