CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - No. 16 Michigan defeated No. 12 Virginia, 4-2, in the consolation round of the 2013 ITA Women's National Indoor Championships late Saturday night at Boar's Head Sports Club.
 
The Cavaliers fell to 1-2 with their second consecutive loss and Michigan improved to 4-2.
 
The Wolverines won a competitive doubles point and three singles matches to gain the win and avenge last night's 4-0 loss to No. 7 Cal.
 
Michigan posted a win at No. 1 doubles, but Virginia's Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.) defeated Mimi Nguyen and Kristen Dodge for their second straight doubles win of the championship. The Wolverines' Ronit Yurovsky and Sarah Lee defeated Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) and Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) 8-6 at No. 3 to claim the doubles point.
 
Ronit Yurovsky defeated Li Xi (Kunming, China) 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles to give Michigan a 2-0 lead.
 
Virginia's Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) put the Cavaliers on the scoreboard with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Brooke Bolender at No. 3.
 
Vierra tied the score at 2-2 with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Dodge at No. 6 before Michigan gained a 3-2 lead with a 6-2, 6-4 win from Amy Zhu over Tomljanovic at No. 5.
 
Lee clinched the match for the Wolverines with a 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 win over Epstein at No. 4 singles. Elbaba held a 4-3 lead in the third set of her match against Emina Bektas at No. 1 singles as Lee clinched the match with a 7-5 win in the tiebreaker against Epstein.
 
Virginia completes action at the ITA National Indoors Sunday against Texas A&M. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
 
UVa and Boar's Head Sports Club are hosting the ITA National Indoors for the third straight year. Joining No. 12 Virginia in the 16-team field are No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 Duke, No. 4 USC, No. 6 Georgia, No. 7 Cal, No. 8 North Carolina, No. 9 Alabama, No. 10 Miami (Fla.), No. 11 Texas, No. 13 Texas A&M, No. 14 Northwestern, No. 15 Baylor, No. 16 Michigan, No. 17 Nebraska and No. 21 Vanderbilt.
 
Dual matches are scheduled at 9 a.m., 12 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday with the championship match set for 11 a.m. on Monday. Fans can attend the four-day championship FREE of charge.
