COLLEGE STATION, Texas -Texas A&M women's tennis has achieved the second highest ranking in the history of the program, coming in at No. 11 in the ITA national team rankings released today.

The Aggies, whose No. 11 ranking is the highest since a school-record No. 9 showing on March 28, 2001, climbed two spots following a successful weekend at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, where the Aggies knocked off both No. 11 Texas and No. 12 Virginia.

Individually, senior Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar is No. 5 in the most recent ITA singles rankings. Senior Nazari Urbina jumped into the singles rankings for the first time this spring, coming in at No. 54, and junior Cristina Stancu is No. 73.

In doubles, Stancu and freshman Stefania Hristov are No. 11.

A&M is one of eight teams from the Southeastern Conference ranked in the Top 30. Defending national champion Florida, Georgia and Alabama are all in the Top 10, ranked No. 2, 5 and 9, respectively. For the complete rankings, go to ITAtennis.com.

A&M is 4-1 in dual matches with its only loss coming against current No. 1 North Carolina in the first round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship. The Aggies return to action Saturday at 11 a.m. (CT), when they take on 13th-ranked Michigan in Ann Arbor. The match will be the Aggies' fourth consecutive match against a Top 15 team.
