DURHAM, N.C. – Following an impressive 4-0 sweep against second-ranked Florida, Blue Devil women’s tennis standout Ester Goldfeld has been named ACC Player of the Week as announced by the conference Tuesday. Goldfeld, ranked 45th in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll, topped ninth-ranked Sofie Oyen to lead Duke to its fifth win over Florida in program history and its first sweep of the defending national champions.

Goldfeld, a sophomore from Brooklyn, N.Y., has tallied a 6-1 singles record this season, including a 2-1 mark against nationally-ranked opponents. On Sunday, Goldfeld cruised to a 6-4 victory in the first set against Oyen, before dropping serve in the second set twice to find herself behind 5-2. Goldfeld rallied by winning five consecutive games to close out the match and give the Blue Devils a commanding 3-0 lead over the Gators.

Goldfeld, a 2012 All-ACC selection, posted a 17-5 singles record during her freshman campaign, helping the Blue Devils to a 29-3 overall record and the program’s 17th ACC title.

Following the victory over Florida, the Blue Devils moved up a position in the ITA polls to No. 3 in the country, behind only North Carolina and UCLA.

Duke is next set to take to the courts Feb. 23 as it plays host to No. 70 Princeton at 11 a.m. at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
