BERKELEY - Top-ranked Zsofi Susanyi leads seventh-ranked California into a pair of big dual matches against No. 2 UCLA and No. 6 USC this week at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Golden Bears (3-2) take on the Bruins (6-1) at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, and then host the Trojans (7-1) at noon on Saturday, Feb. 23.

• Sophomore Zsofi Susanyi is tied for the No. 1 spot in the latest ITA singles rankings with USC's Sabrina Santamaria
• Susanyi - who reached the NCAA singles semifinals in her first year as a collegian - is the first Cal singles player ranked No. 1 since former NCAA singles champion Jana Juricova was in 2011
• Cal's other ranked singles players are No. 12 Anett Schutting, a junior, No. 66/freshman Lynn Chi and No. 113/freshman Klara Fabikova
• In doubles, Schutting and Chi form the 27th-ranked team in the nation, Susanyi and Fabikova are ranked No. 31, and Schutting is also ranked at No. 52 with senior Annie Goransson
• Amanda Augustus is in her sixth year as head coach at Cal

• UCLA reached the final of the recent ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championship, only to lose to then-No. 6 North Carolina, 4-3
• The Bruins have the following ranked singles players: No. 6 Robin Anderson, No. 42 Kyle McPhillips, No. 56 Pamela Montez, No. 65 Kaitlyn Ray, No. 76 Catherine Harrison and No. 78 Chanelle Van Nguyen
• UCLA also boasts these ranked doubles teams: No. 14 Anderson and Skylar Morton, No. 19 McPhillips and Morton, No. 37 Montez and Dolehide, and No. 38 Montez and Anderson

Scouting USC
• The Trojans host San Diego State on Wednesday, Feb. 20, before playing Cal in Berkeley
• USC lost in the quarterfinal round of the recent ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championship to eventual champion North Carolina
• The Trojans also ended Cal's stay in the indoor tournament, topping the Bears, 4-1, in the consolation bracket
• The Trojans boast the following ITA singles rankings: tied for No. 1 Sabrina Santamaria, No. 3 Danielle Lao, No. 23 Zoe Scandalis, No. 60 Gabriella DeSimone and No. 81 Giuliana Olmos
• USC has the following doubles rankings: No. 1 Santamaria and Kaitlyn Christian, No. 25 DeSimone and Scandalis, and No. 48 Lao and Valeria Pulido

Last Time: Bears Reach ITA Indoor Quarterfinals
Cal reached the quarterfinal round of the recent ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championship in Charlottesville, Va., with the Golden Bears opening the tournament by besting then-No. 16 Michigan, 4-0, in the opening round on Feb. 8. The match was the first meeting between the schools in women's tennis and also marked the first time that Cal head coach Amanda Augustus coached against the team that she coached prior to returning to Berkeley.
In the quarterfinals, No. 7 Cal fell to then-No. 6 Georgia, 4-1, on Feb. 9. Zsofi Susanyi beat then-No. 18 Maho Kowase, 6-0, 6-4, to earn a point for the Bears.
The Bears moved on to the consolation bracket but fell to the Trojans, 4-1, on Feb. 10 to end their run in Virginia. Ranked as the No. 109 singles player at the time, Lynn Chi earned Cal's point in dominating fashion, beating then-No. 56 Gabriella DeSimone, 6-0, 6-0, on court three.
