OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 10 nationally ranked Ole Miss men’s tennis team bolstered its lineup recently with the addition of Adriaan du Toit of Tulbagh, South Africa.  He is eligible to play immediately and will help the Rebels in both singles and doubles.

Du Toit achieved a career-high ranking of No. 2 in the South African under-18 rankings and No. 12 in the South African men’s rankings.  At age 16, du Toit earned his first ATP ranking (1411).  Du Toit claimed ITF junior doubles titles in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.  In February 2012, he represented South Africa in the African Cup, reaching the quarterfinals in singles.

“We’re excited about Adriaan joining our program,” head coach Billy Chadwick said.  “He had originally planned on starting next fall (December 2012 graduate), but is taking advantage of the opportunity to get a jump on his collegiate career.  First of all, he is an outstanding young man and a very good student.   He is well-coached with a solid game and has the potential to impact us in both singles and doubles.”

Ole Miss is coming off a top-10 finish at the ITA National Team Indoor where they defeated No. 14 Tennessee and No. 10 Mississippi State to finish 2-1.  The Rebels will host Memphis Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center in the team’s first outdoor match of the season.
