TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -  The No. 27 - ranked Florida State women's tennis team captured a sweeping 7-0 victory over UCF on Friday, moving to 5-1 on the season.

In doubles on court two, senior Amy Sargeant paired up with sophomore Mia Vriens and controlled the match against Caroline Eberhart and Courtney Griffith, winning with a score of 8-2.

Senior Francesca Segarelli and junior Kristina Schleich secured the doubles point for the Seminoles by defeating Sofia Baptista and Jenna Doerfler on court two, 8-2.  The match on court one went unfinished with Daneika Borthwick and Kerrie Cartwright out in front 7-4 over Genevieve Lorbergs and Josephine Haraldson.

Florida State dictated singles by winning four of the six first sets by the score of 6-0.

Schleich made the score 2-0 after defeating Clare Mendell on court six, 6-0, 6-0.  Vriens (No. 95) added a third point after she dominated her match on court two, defeating Dorefler 6-0, 6-1.

In the second set, (No. 91) Segarelli was down 3-2 before using her serve to tie the game at three. Her opponent Haraldson went ahead 4-3 before Segarelli served again to tie the set at four.  Segarelli found her fuel as she broke to get back on serve while up 5-4. Segarelli closed out the match and clinched for FSU, 6-0, 6-4.

No. 37 -ranked Borthwick made it 5-0 by conquering Lorbergs on court one, 6-1, 6-3.

Cartwright picked up her second win in the Garnet and Gold as she controlled the first set, before fighting off Baptista in the second. She won 6-0, 6-4.

Working from a tie at two in the first set, Sargeant won her next eight games before putting away Eberhart on court four, 6-2, 6-3. Sargeant completed the first 7-0 sweep for the Seminoles this season.

With their singles victories today, Segarelli and Sargeant have extended their spring winning streaks to eight. The senior duo became the first Seminoles to accomplish the feat since Katie Rybakova in 2009.  It marks the third time in school history (1999, 2008, 2013) that two players have 8-0 winning streaks during the spring season.
