COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The 24th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team continued its five-match road swing with a 4-0 loss at No. 6 Texas A&M on Wednesday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.

"Texas A&M has a great team with a lot of experience," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "We knew that this was going to be a really tough test for us. We're developing and a work in progress. Some of the things we need to fix are not going to happen overnight. It's a process."

To open doubles play, Texas A&M's tandem of Inez and Paula DeHeza routed Maria Biryukova and Megan Horter, 8-3. BU responded with a victory on court one, as the 23rd-ranked duo of Ema Burgic and Victoria Kisialeva defeated Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar and Wen Sun, 8-6.

"Victoria and Ema are a good team," Scrivano said. "They've obviously proven that they can play at a very high level. We need them to continue to do that. Our other two teams are going to pull through here soon, and we need them to stay consistent." The Aggies secured the doubles point with Stefania Hristov and Anna Mamalat's 9-7 victory over Kiah Generette and Alex Leatu.

In singles play, Mamalat gained another point for the Aggies with a straight-set win over Leatu on court 6. 6-2, 6-2. To make it 3-0, sixth-ranked Sanchez-Quintanar defeated the 12th-ranked Burgic by the same score.

To clinch the match for TAMU, Hristov came back from a 6-1 deficit in a second set tiebreaker to win the match 6-0, 7-6 (7) on court 5 against Maria Biryukova. At that point, all other singles matches were taken off the court since the team match was decided.

Baylor has now lost eight out of nine matches and is 4-8 overall. The Lady Bears have dropped to 1-8 against top-25 ranked opponents this season and are 0-4 on the road. This is the second time this season that the Lady Bears have been shut out by an opponent.

The all-time series between Texas A&M (6-1) and Baylor is now tied at 20 matches apiece.

Baylor will continue its road trip against Clemson at 2:30 p.m. on March 8 in Clemson, S.C.
