WACO, Texas - Baylor's 29th-ranked women's tennis team will look to bounce back from a three-match losing streak against 17th-ranked Clemson on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
"Every match is important for us right now," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "This is another opportunity to get better individually and collectively as a team. We have so much room for improvement. Every time we step on the court, there's an opportunity to grow."
Baylor, now 4-8 on the season, has totaled four consecutive losses against top-20 opponents. Most recently, the Lady Bears were shut out by fourth-ranked Texas A&M, 4-0. The lone win of the day came from BU's most successful doubles tandem, 23rd-ranked Ema Burgic and Victoria Kisialeva (4-1).
Clemson (3-3) is coming off of a four-game road swing, ending the trip with a 4-3 loss to 23rd-ranked Miami. The Tigers' lineup boasts three ranked singles players, including No. 27 Yana Koroleva, No. 29 Anne-Liz Jeukeng, and No. 44 Beatrice Gumulya. The three are a combined 11-3 in the top three spots. In doubles, the team is 5-9 overall.
Baylor is 3-2 all-time against Clemson. The last time these two teams met, the Lady Bears came out with a 4-3 victory on March 20, 2012.
