NOTRE DAME, Ind. - University of Notre Dame men's tennis player Billy Pecor has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Tuesday.

Pecor won at singles and doubles to help the Irish earn a big home win over No. 13 Illinois, 4-1, last Tuesday. In doubles the Houston, Texas native teamed with Alex Lawson to take down Farris Gosea and Alex Jesse, 8-5, at two. Notre Dame also won at three doubles to take the early 1-0 lead over the Fighting Illini.

In singles the junior clinched the match for the Irish with a 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-1 win over No. 118 Ross Guignon at four.

The honor is the second of the season for Pecor as he also earned the same honor after clinching the win over then-No. 21 Michigan (4-3) Feb. 16.

Notre Dame has now claimed the weekly BIG EAST honor six times out of a possible eight opportunities this season.

The No. 27 Irish get back into action this weekend as they compete in Montgomery, Ala., at the elite Blue Gray National Tennis Classic March 15-17.
