LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Junior Marianne Jodoin claimed her 17th-consecutive singles victory, but the second-ranked Duke women's tennis team was unable to slow 60th-ranked Indiana, dropping the match, 4-2, Friday in Las Vegas, Nev. The Blue Devils fall to 9-3 on the season, with two of the team's losses coming during its current four-match road trip.

The Blue Devils won the doubles point for the 10th time this season, but for the first time all spring, were unable to claim the match after winning the crucial point. In the top spot, the 35th-ranked duo of junior Hanna Mar and sophomore Ester Goldfeld topped No. 52 Leslie Hureau and Sohpie Garre, 8-6, while the tandem of Jodoin and sophomore Annie Mulholland cruised past Alecia Kauss and Shannon Murdy, 8-4, on court two.

Duke was limited to only five players in the match, and was forced to forfeit both the third doubles as well as the sixth singles matches as a result.

In singles play, all five matches were decided in the third set. On court one, 35th-ranked Goldfeld dropped the first set, 3-6, but swept Hureau, 6-0, in the second to force the third set, where Hureau regained momentum, winning, 6-2.

On court three, senior Mary Clayton dropped her match to Carolyn Chupa, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3, to give the Hoosiers a 3-1 advantage in the match, but Jodoin quickly responded by taking her match, 6-3, 5-7, 6-0, against Garre to bring the score to 3-2.

A native of Varennes, Quebec, Jodoin topped Garre to win her 17th consecutive singles victory, and give her a perfect 11-0 singles record in dual matches this spring. Jodoin has not dropped a singles match dating back to her victory in the White Draw at the Kitty Harrison Invitational Nov. 9-12.

In the second position, No. 16 Mar fell to Katie Klyczek, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, to clinch the match for Indiana, while Mulholland and Kauss were level at 5-5 in the third set when the match was decided.

The Blue Devils are in the midst of a four match road trip that kicked off with matches against Michigan and Notre Dame March March 1-3 and concludes with the squad's ACC opener Saturday, March 23rd against N.C. State in Raleigh, N.C.
