College Tennis News - No. 59 'Eaters Open Big West with 6-1 Win

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. --- No. 59 UCI took down its fourth straight opponent, this time in Big West fashion, with a 6-1 defeat at Cal Poly Sunday afternoon.

UCI (6-3, 1-0) made quick work in doubles with 8-5, 8-5, and 8-2 set victories for the sweep.

The 'Eaters would then score wins in five of six singles matches and all by sweeps as well. Sarah Gong picked up the clincher for the 'Eaters to take her team-leading sixth singles match of the season and fourth in her last five.

Sarah Stadfelt and Ali Facey continued singles winning streaks for five and four matches, respectively.

UCI continues its road trip to open Big West play with a match Monday, Feb. 18th at UC Santa Barbara at 11:00 a.m.
