AUSTIN, Texas - Texas freshman Breaunna Addison posted a straight-sets singles victory, but it was not enough Friday, as No. 10 Miami (9-3) posted a 6-1 win over No. 22 Texas (7-8, 3-0 Big 12) at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
Miami swept the doubles session to take the doubles point and a 1-0 lead. Texas evened the match at second singles, where UT's 52nd-ranked Addison notched a 6-3, 6-1 win over Miami's Lina Lileikite. But, the Hurricanes claimed the ensuing decisions at sixth, third and first singles to clinch the team victory.
Miami added a win at fifth singles to take a 5-1 lead. UT's Elizabeth Begley went to a third-set tiebreaker against Miami's Monique Albuquerque at fourth singles, but Albuquerque prevailed in the tiebreaker, 9-7.
Texas resumes Big 12 Conference competition on Sunday when it hosts West Virginia at noon.
