No. 11 OU sweeps No. 69 Rice, 5-0, in an Easter afternoon match.

NORMAN, Okla. -- The No. 11 University of Oklahoma men's tennis team swept No. 69 Rice, 5-0, Sunday, March 31, in an Easter afternoon match that lasted less than two hours.
The Owls (8-11) did not have their full lineup, so the matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles were forfeited. That gave the Sooners (13-5) one automatic point and allowed the team to only have to win one doubles match.
"Obviously they didn't have their full lineup. I think they were a little banged up," OU head coach John Roddick said. "But we did what we were supposed to do, played pretty well and made quick work of it."
In doubles, the tandem of Lawrence Formentera and Nick Papac won quickly to snatch the doubles point for the Sooners. They beat Leif Berger and Philip Seifert at the No. 2 position, 8-2.
OU's two freshmen, Leonard Stakhovsky and Axel Alvarez Llamas, finished the match for the Sooners.
Stakhovsky won on Court 5, only giving up one game. He beat Dylan Tozier, 6-0, 6-1, and extended OU's lead to 3-0.
Alvarez Llamas won the match for the Sooners at the No. 3 position. He defeated Gustavo Gonzalez 6-1, 6-1.
Dane Webb finished his match shortly after that. He topped Peter Frank, 6-1, 6-1, on Court 2.
"It was pretty good as far as being focused; it's easy to lose focus on those situations sometimes," Roddick said. "They did a good job and went out and did what we needed to do."
OU stays at home to face the No. 17 Texas Longhorns in a Red River Rivalry Friday night matchup April 5 at 5:30 p.m.
