IRVING, Texas - With the start of the Big 12 season less than a week away, the league's head coaches have selected the Baylor men's tennis team to finish second in the regular-season standings, the Big 12 office announced on Monday.

While coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team, Baylor earned one first-place vote and a total of 20 points. Oklahoma, last season's regular season and tournament champion, earned the other five first-place votes and 25 total points to be No. 1 in the poll.

Baylor has won four-straight matches to hold a 14-4 record. The Bears are ranked No. 22 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. BU has a 6-4 against ranked foes and is 11-2 at home this season.

Behind the Bears in the poll is Texas (18), followed by TCU (13), Texas Tech (9) and Oklahoma State (5).

Last season, BU was projected to finish fourth in the conference, but exceeded those expectations to take third with a 3-2 league mark.

In 16 seasons of Big 12 action, BU is 95-17 with 10 regular-season titles and seven tournament crowns.

BU's next match will also be its Big 12 opener as the Bears face No. 39 Texas Tech on April 7 in Lubbock, Texas.
