BERKELEY - Eleventh-ranked California hosts its penultimate home match of the year against Oregon on Friday, April 5, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Golden Bears bring an 11-5 record (5-1 in the Pac-12) into the match with the Ducks (11-6, 1-5 Pac-12).

Scouting the Bears
• Cal boasts a roster that includes four players who are ranked in singles by the ITA (as of the March 26 poll): sophomore Zsofi Susanyi (No. 4), junior Anett Schutting (No. 6), freshman Lynn Chi (No. 59) and freshman Klara Fabikova (No. 80)
• The Bears also have the following ranked doubles teams (as of the March 26 ITA poll): No. 23 Susanyi/Fabikova and No. 25 Chi/Schutting
• Schutting claimed the March 26 Pac-12 Player of the Week honor after collecting two singles wins and two doubles wins in Cal's conference victories over Colorado (7-0 on March 22) and Utah (7-0 on March 23) at home
• Cal has a 4-0 record against common opponents with Oregon, including wins over Washington State (6-1 on March 8 in Berkeley), Washington (7-0 on March 9 in Berkeley), Colorado (7-0 on March 22 in Berkeley) and Utah (7-0 on March 23 in Berkeley)
• The April 19 match between No. 13 Cal and No. 15 Stanford in Berkeley - which is the last dual match of the regular season - will air on the Pac-12 Networks; Paul Sunderland (play-by-play) and Justin Gimelstob (analyst) are slated to be the announcers

Scouting the Ducks
• Oregon plays at San Francisco on Thursday, April 4, at 1 p.m.
• The Ducks are on a two-match losing streak after setbacks at Colorado (5-2 in Boulder on March 29) and at Utah (6-1 in Salt Lake City on March 31)
• Oregon has a 0-4 record against common opponents with Cal, including the losses at Colorado and Utah and defeats to Washington (5-2 on March 15 in Eugene) and Washington State (4-3 on March 17 in Eugene)
• Nicole Long is ranked 102nd in the March 26 ITA singles poll
• Paul Reber is in his seventh year as head coach at Oregon
Last Time
With the overall match on the line, Annie Goransson won in three sets to give 13th-ranked California a 4-3 upset of No. 4 UCLA on Saturday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. Goransson, a senior, defeated the Bruins' Courtney Dolehide, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, on court five to complete the Golden Bears' victory and improve Cal's record to 11-5 (5-1 in the Pac-12). UCLA's record is now 13-4 (4-2 Pac-12).
For the second straight match, Cal did not have the services of sophomore All-American Zsofi Susanyi, the fourth-ranked player in the nation in singles and a member of the 23rd-ranked doubles team with freshman Klara Fabikova.
The win gave Cal a split in southern California, after a 6-1 setback at No. 6 USC on Friday.
The Bears fell behind in doubles play, as the team of Fabikova and junior Alice Duranteau lost to the 43rd-ranked team of Dolehide and Pamela Montez, 8-2, on court two. But Cal bounced back, as the No. 25 team of freshman Lynn Chi and junior Anett Schutting upset UCLA's No. 13 Robin Anderson/Skylar Morton, 8-5, on court one and then - playing together for the first time this season - the Cal duo of junior Kelly Chui and senior Tayler Davis beat Catherine Harrison/Kyle McPhillips, 8-5, on court three to clinch the doubles point.
In singles, the teams traded victories before the match ended with the court-five result. On court six, UCLA's No. 88 Kaitlin Ray beat Duranteau, 6-4, 6-2, to tie the match at 1-1, and then Chi, ranked 59th, stopped No. 110 Montez, 6-4, 6-1, on court two to give the lead back to Cal at 2-1.
Schutting, ranked sixth, battled UCLA's No. 3 Anderson on court one but fell, 7-5, 6-3, and then Fabikova, ranked 80th, upset No. 67 McPhillips, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, on court three for her seventh consecutive win, as Cal stayed ahead of the Bruins by one at 3-2.
Davis dropped a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2, match to No. 91 Harrison on court four to tie the match at 3-3, leaving Goransson to secure the overall victory with her court-five heroics.
Goransson has won six of seven singles matches since returning to action this month, after an injury layoff kept her out of the lineup during much of the winter.
Next Time
Cal travels to the Grand Canyon State for its last regular-season road trip. The Bears play No. 22 Arizona State on April 12 at 1:30 p.m. in Tempe and then plays No. 74 Arizona on April 13 at noon on April 13 in Tucson.
