DURHAM, N.C. – The ninth-ranked Duke men’s tennis team will seek to improve upon its current 12-match home winning streak at Ambler Tennis stadium, as the Blue Devils play host to No. 53 Miami Sunday, April 14 at noon.

Duke is coming off a 5-2 win over Georgia Tech Sunday, April 7 in Atlanta, Ga., as the squad closed out its regular season road schedule. In the process of sealing the doubles point for Duke with an 8-2 win over No. 51 Juan Spir and Eduardo Segura, the top-ranked pair of senior Henrique Cunha and sophomore Raphael Hemmeler won their 29th match of the season. With the win, Cunha and Hemmeler now rank fifth all-time in most single season wins by a doubles tandem in program history. In singles, freshman Michael Redlicki came from behind to clinch the team win over Juan Melian at the No. 2 position, 0-6, 7-5, 6-1.

In the latest ITA rankings released this week, Cunha and Hemmeler remain No. 1 in the listing in doubles, while the tandem of Redlicki and sophomore Jason Tahir are listed 17th. The junior team of Chris Mengel and Fred Saba are the third ranked Blue Devil pair with a No. 61 listing. In singles, Cunha, who remains perfect in the dual season with a 14-0 mark, leads the squad with a No. 3 listing. Meanwhile, Saba is ranked 26th in the latest poll, as he owns a 13-5 record for the spring, while Redlicki (No. 43), Hemmeler (No. 71) and Mengel (No. 112) round out the rankings for Duke.

Miami comes to Durham ranked 53rd in the latest ITA poll and owns a 13-8 overall record and a 2-4 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play. The squad is led by sophomore Wilfredo Gonzalez, who owns a 15-5 mark for the season.

Sunday’s matchup will mark the 40th all-time meeting between the Blue Devils and Miami with Duke leading the series, 23-16. Duke has won the last two meetings in the series, including last year’s 7-0 win in Coral Gables.
