WAMEGO, Kan. – No. 15 Texas Tech (15-4, 5-0 Big 12) will look to stay perfect in the Big 12 Conference women’s tennis as they head to the Sunflower State to face No. 50 Kansas State on Friday at 1 p.m. and Kansas on Sunday at noon.

“We have struggled in Kansas in the past, so we are going to have to stay focused,” said Lady Raider head coach Todd Petty. “Kansas State is a very good top 50 team and Kansas has been in and out of the rankings this season. We will have to come ready to play if we are going to have the kind of success that will keep us in the running for the Big 12 Championship.”

Texas Tech will face No. 48 Kansas State on Friday. The Wildcats (7-8, 1-4 Big 12) have given the Lady Raiders fits in Wamego. Tech eked out a 4-3 win last year and lost 5-2 in 2010. Kansas State is paced by Petra Niedermayerova, who is ranked 12th nationally in singles and is teamed with Karla Bonacic to earn a No. 30 national ranking.

On Sunday, the Lady Raiders face Kansas in Lawrence. Texas Tech leads the series, 10-9, including 6-3 in Lawrence. The Jayhawks are 8-7 overall and 0-5 in Big 12 play. The Jayhawks’ strength has been the bottom of the lineup, as they have gone 28-16.

Texas Tech is paced by Samantha Adams, who is ranked No. 94 in singles and has teamed with Kenna Kilgo to earn a No. 13 doubles ranking. Adams has twice been named the Big 12 Player of the Week this season.

The Lady Raiders are one of the most dominating doubles teams in the nation, as Texas Tech has gone 44-11 in doubles this season and won the doubles point in 18 of 19 matches this season. Kilgo and Adams are 16-3 this spring, while Nikki Sanders and Rashmi Teltumbde are 11-6 and Caroline Starck and Elizabeth Ullathorne are 15-2.

In singles action, four Lady Raiders have won 18 matches this season – Ullathorne (22-7), Sanders (19-7), Kilgo (18-9) and Sanders (18-5).
