WACO, Texas - In search of its seventh straight win, the 15th-ranked Baylor men's tennis team will host Big 12 Conference foe Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Hurd Tennis Center.
"If you are trying to compete at the highest level you have got to be consistent," head coach Matt Knoll said. "We have got to come off the win against Oklahoma, a team that is a little ahead of us, to play a team that is a little behind us in the ranking. We have got to be ready to respond and be consistent. If we are going to have a great team that is what we have to do."
The Bears (16-4, 2-0) have five singles competitors ranked in the latest ITA rankings that were released Tuesday. Patrick Pradella, Julian Lenz, Tony Lupieri, Marko Krickovic, and Mate Zsiga are ranked 29, 55, 74, 77 and 91 respectively.
Baylor's current six-match win streak dates back to March 21. On Friday, Baylor knocked off No. 12 Oklahoma, 6-1, by winning the doubles point and singles matches two through five.
BU's Tony Lupieri extended his win streak to eight matches in the Bears in the win over OU. Julian Lenz has built a six-match win streak that includes two wins over ranked opponents.
The Cowboys come into the match with Baylor in the midst of a three-game slump. OSU suffered a 6-1 loss in Lubbock on Friday night vs. Texas Tech to drop the team's record to 11-11 on the season and 0-3 in conference play.
Baylor currently leads 21-8 in the all-time series with Oklahoma State including a 21-3 record against the Cowboys in the Matt Knoll era. The Bears picked up a hard fought 4-3 win last year in Stillwater in the last meeting between the teams.
Admission to Sunday's match is free. Live scoring, a live blog, and live streaming video of the match will be available on BaylorBears.com.
Following Sunday's match, the Bears will travel to Austin on Wednesday to face the 21st-ranked Texas Longhorns at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
