Bruins to host four-team NCAA Regional, May 10-11 at the Los Angeles Tennis...
LOS ANGELES - For the first time since 1999, the UCLA men earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tennis Championships, as the field of 64 was revealed to the country on Tuesday. The Bruins have also been selected to host a four-team NCAA Regional at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning on May 10.
UCLA (24-1) opens up the tournament against Summit League Champion UMKC (13-10) on Friday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m. The other first-round match that day features Drake (24-3) and TCU (18-9) at 10:00 a.m. Friday's winners will meet in the second round on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., with the winner of that match advancing to the NCAA Championships, May 16-21, in Champaign, Ill.
The seventh-seeded UCLA women's tennis team (16-5) will also be hosting a four-team NCAA Regional at the Los Angeles Tennis Center from May 11-12. Play begins on Saturday, May 11 with Big West Champion Long Beach State (21-3) taking on Oklahoma State (15-8) at 9:00 a.m. The second match that day features UCLA and Patriot League Champion Army (22-6) at Noon. The two winners will meet on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. for the right to advance to the round of 16 in Illinois beginning on May 17.
Tickets for next week's NCAA Regionals can be purchased upon entrance to the Los Angeles Tennis Center (there are no advanced ticket sales). Prices are $7 for adults and $5 for youth/students.
