TULSA, Okla. - The No.25-ranked Tulsa men's tennis squad will face No. 45 Michigan State in the first round of the NCAA Championship on Friday, May 10, in Waco, Texas.

The Golden Hurricane, 15-7, faces the Spartans, 14-13, for the first time since 2009, when TU defeated MSU, 6-1. Head Coach Vince Westbrook holds a 4-1 record against Michigan State. Competition will be held at Hurd Tennis Center on May 10-11.

"We're looking forward to the trip to Waco to face Michigan State," commented Head Coach Vince Westbrook. "We're going to face a Spartan team in the first round that plays in the one of the toughest conferences in the nation. We know how tough they will be and we look forward to this challenge."

The winner of the Tulsa/Michigan State will face the victor of No. 13 and the tournament's No. 13 seed Baylor and Prairie View A&M, the Southwestern Athletic Conference champion.

Tulsa defeated Baylor, 5-2, earlier this season on Feb. 3, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The Golden Hurricane holds a 2-3 record against the Bears under Westbrook,  while TU is 1-0 against Prairie View A&M.

The Golden Hurricane is making its 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its eighth-straight trip to the national competition.

First and second round regional action will be played May 10-12 at 16 campus sites. The later rounds as well as the individual singles and doubles tournament are set for May 16-27, to be hosted at the University of Illinois' Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex at the Atkins Tennis Center for the first time in history.
