MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men’s tennis team, winners at the 2013 West Coast Conference Tournament, learned its first and second round opponents today for the NCAA Tournament. The Waves, seeded No. 11 overall in the 64-team bracket, will host Stanford, LSU and UC Santa Barbara on May 10-11.

Pepperdine, currently ranked #10 in the ITA rankings, will play the Gauchos in the first round on May 10 at 1 p.m. UCSB, 12-13 on the season, earned the automatic bid by winning the Big West Tournament title last week with three upset wins in four days.

The draw also includes the #20 Tigers and #41 Cardinal, who will face off at 10 a.m. on Friday, prior to the Waves’ match.

LSU is 15-11 including 5-8 in the SEC. Stanford enters the championships with a 12-11 record – one of those losses being a 4-3 decision to Pepperdine on April 10.

Live scores coverage will be available for all three matches.

This is the second year in a row Pepperdine has hosted the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament.  The Waves, making their 33rd appearance, are officially 51-31 all-time in tournament history.

When playing NCAA Tournament matches in Malibu, Pepperdine is officially 10-2.

Last season, the Waves shut out Green Bay and Washington at home before topping Tulsa and Georgia in Athens, Ga. to reach the semifinals.

The 16 different schools to emerge out of the 16 different host sites will converge in Urbana, Ill. to play out the remainder of the NCAA Tournament on May 16-21. The singles and doubles tournament will immediately follow on May 22-27. Singles and doubles selections will be announced on Wednesday, May 1.
