URBANA, Ill.—Georgia’s remaining competitors in the NCAA singles and doubles championships were eliminated Saturday at the Atkins Tennis Center.

Sophomore Lauren Herring, the tournament’s sixth seed, fell to No. 11 Mary Weatherholt of Nebraska 6-2, 6-2. The match was finished indoors due to rain. The Greenville, N.C., native finishes the year with a 38-7 record.

Georgia’s top-seeded doubles team of junior Kate Fuller and Freshman Silvia Garcia came up just short against Alabama’s No. 7 duo of Alexa Guarachi and Mary Anne Macfarlane, falling 7-6 (4), 7-5. Down 5-3 in the second set, Georgia broke to tie it at 5-5, but couldn’t hold serve to force a third set. Fuller and Garcia end the year with a 26-4 record. The match was also played indoors.

“I’m really excited for Lauren, Kate and Silvia’s future,” said head coach Jeff Wallace. “They’ve had a great season and made a great run here at the NCAA individual tournament. Their future is bright and we’re looking forward to continuing to work and make improvements so that we can make a run next year.”

As a team, Georgia (24-4) advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to No. 12 Stanford last week, 4-1.
