TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - After having its most successful season in program history, the women's tennis team will look to build on those efforts when it embarks on its 2013-14 schedule, which was announced on Friday. The Crimson Tide is slated to take part in eight tournaments before kicking off the dual match portion of its schedule at the end of January.

"We are excited about the release of our 2013-14 schedule," said Alabama head coach Jenny Mainz. "It's an ambitious schedule that will undoubtedly provide many sizable opportunities."

Alabama will start fall competition just as it did last year, opening the season at the Duke Fab Four Invite in Cary, N.C., Sept. 13-15, followed by the Furman Fall Classic from Sept. 27-29, in Greenville, S.C. Selected members of the team will then take part in the ITA/Riviera All-American Championships, which take place in Los Angeles from Sept. 28-Oct. 6.

Next up, the Tide will play back-to-back tournaments in Alabama, starting with the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships at Auburn from Oct. 18-21, then host its annual Roberta Alison Fall Classic on Nov. 1-3. The winner of the singles and doubles draws at the regional tournament will then meet at the National Indoor Championships in Flushing, N.Y. on Nov. 7-10. The Tide concludes its fall schedule with a trip to the Dickie V Clay Court Classic in Sarasota, Fla. that same weekend.

Alabama resumes tournament play in January with a trip to the Northwestern Invite, which will take place Jan. 17-19, in Evanston, Ill.

Because of its final ranking of No. 11 last season, Alabama was selected as one of the host sites for the 2014 ITA Kick-Off Weekend, which welcomes in the start of the new dual match season across the country. The Tide will take on William & Mary on Jan. 25, and either Oklahoma or Mississippi on Jan. 27. The team that wins both its matches that weekend will earn a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, which will take place Feb. 7-10, in Charlottesville, Va.

"We're privileged to be hosting the Roberta Alison Fall Classic this fall which commemorates the highly regarded Roberta Alison Baumgardner," added Mainz. "We're also proud to have earned the chance to host the ITA Kick-Off Weekend again this year."

Alabama will host eight additional home dual matches throughout the 2014 season including Georgia State (Feb. 1), Virginia (Feb. 15), Mississippi State (Feb. 28), Mississippi (March 2), South Carolina (March 21), Florida (March 23), Texas A&M (April 4) and Missouri (April 6).

The Tide's first road matches of the season will take place at LSU on March 7. Additional road matches include Arkansas (March 9), Auburn (March 14), Vanderbilt (March 28), Kentucky (March 30), Georgia (April 11) and Tennessee (April 13).

The Southeastern Conference Championship will run April 16-20, in Columbia, Mo., while the NCAA Championships will begin May 9-11 at selected sites and continue May 15-26, in Athens, Ga.

"We're eager to be hosting two of the top three teams in the country and three top 15 teams at home this season," said Mainz. "Our fans do an exemplary job of creating a spirited and enthusiastic atmosphere. It's a fantastic collegiate tennis venue for the players, coaches and fans."
