BOISE, Idaho - Three Boise State men’s tennis players have been recognized in the preseason by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) heading into this week’s fall openers. Senior Andy Bettles begins the year ranked 21st nationally in singles while sophomore Thomas Tenreiro starts at No. 123. Meanwhile, Bettles and Nathan Sereke also earned invites to the ITA All-American Championships.
Invites to the this fall’s prestigious ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Oct. 2-7 have been announced with Bettles being seeded into the main draw for both singles and doubles. He will be joined in doubles by fellow senior Nathan Sereke.
Bettles, the current reigning Mountain West Player of the Year and a two-time All-MW honoree in singles, finished last season ranked 36th nationally after going 30-10 overall and 23-6 in duals playing at the No. 1 position in singles and helping guide his team to the NCAA Tournament.
Sereke and Bettles were doubles partners last year garnering All-MW honors while playing at the No. 1 slot where they went 16-10 in duals and 19-12 on the year.
Thomas Tenreiro, a sophomore from Miami, Fla., enters the year ranked 123 nationally in singles. Tenreiro had a standout freshman campaign in 2012-13 going 24-3 overall and 20-0 playing the No. 5 position in singles during the spring, including a 19-match win streak to end the season.
