ATHENS-----Peter Bertran and Andy Martinez have signed national letters of intent to attend the University of Georgia and join the men's tennis program, head coach Manuel Diaz announced Thursday.

Bertran is a native of the Dominican Republic and now lives in Bogart, Ga., and attends North Oconee High School. He was undefeated as a sophomore and junior and is ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the state of Georgia. Earlier this year, Bertran won ITF tournaments in the Dominican Republic, Aruba and Barbados.

A native of Atlanta, Martinez began competitive tournaments at the age of 12.  He is a senior at Woodward Academy in Atlanta and trains at Tennis Academy of the South with Kurt Clemons. Rated a five star recruit, Martinez is ranked in the top-75 in the senior class nationally and was the winner of the Southern Doubles Championship.

"We are thrilled to have both Peter and Andy sign with our program," said head coach Manuel Diaz. "They are going to be tremendous additions to our team. They are extremely hard workers and great kids. They are really the kind of people you want representing your institution and program.

"Both Peter and Andy are from the state of Georgia," Diaz added. "Peter has a lot of international experience, and Andy is a five-star prospect. We think they are going to have great careers and great futures."

Bertran and Martinez will join the Bulldogs for the 2014-15 season.
