The March 4th CTO/MDTA Division 1 Men’s Coaches Poll has been released and as expected there wasn’t a whole lot of movement with many teams not seeing as much activity before the start of conference play.

Ohio State (17-0) retains the top spot for a 2nd poll in a row as the Buckeyes picked up another 4 wins (Notre Dame, Indiana, North Carolina, Penn State) to remain as the only undefeated team in Division 1. Next up for Ohio State is a Friday trip to Norman to face #4 Oklahoma and then on March 12th the Buckeyes will head to Athens to face Georgia.

UCLA (9-1) moves up to #2 after defeating Pepperdine 4-0 and USC 5-2 over the last 2 weeks.  Next up for UCLA is a Thursday matchup versus #5 Virginia which will be a rematch of last year’s national championship match and then on March 13th the Bruins will welcome in Baylor.

USC (10-2) comes in at #3 after going 3-1 over the last 2 weeks.  The Trojans picked up a pair of 7-0 wins over UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara, a 6-0 win over San Diego, but then were defeated 5-2 by UCLA. USC returns to action this Friday with a trip to Malibu to face Pepperdine before welcoming in both Baylor (March 9th) and Notre Dame (March 14th).

Boise State is the lone new addition to the top 25 with Greg Patton’s Broncos coming in at 24th after winning the Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery.

Also receiving votes but not garnering enough to make this week’s Top 25 were Michigan, Northwestern, Memphis, Oregon, and Penn State.

The MDTA (Men’s Division 1 Tennis Association) was formed last year to provide a forum for Men’s D1 Coaches to discuss issues that are unique and special to Division 1 Men’s Tennis; for more information about the MDTA you can visit their website at www.mensdivisiononetennis.org .  All Division I Men’s Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are eligible to vote in the poll though they cannot vote for their respective team.  The next coaches poll will be released on March 18th.
