The March 18th CTO/MDTA Division 1 Men's Coaches Poll has been released and we have a NEW #1 as John Roddick’s Oklahoma Sooners (15-1) have moved into the top spot coming off wins over Ohio State, Wake Forest, and Duke.  Next up for Oklahoma is a trip to Malibu to take on Pepperdine on Wednesday followed up by a week of rest before starting conference play at both Texas and TCU on March 28th and 30th

POLL RESULTS: CTO/MDTA  |  ITA RANKINGS

Ohio State (17-2) drops down to #2 this week after dropping its last 2 against Oklahoma and Georgia. Next up for Ohio State is a Friday visit from Michigan followed up by a trip to East Lansing to face Michigan State.   The weekend after that the Buckeyes welcome in both Northwestern and Illinois.

USC (16-2) comes in at #3 as the Trojans are riding a 7 match-winning streak.  Notable wins from the last 2 weeks include a pair of shutouts against Notre Dame and Alabama and a pair of 5-2 wins over Baylor and Pepperdine.  USC will finish off its current road trip on Wednesday taking on Ole Miss and then will take 9 days off before opening up its Pac 12 schedule with a road trip to Oregon and Washington on March 28th and 29th.

UCLA (11-2) comes in at #4 after going 2-1 over the last 2 weeks with wins over Virginia and St. Mary's and a loss against Baylor. Next up for UCLA after a week off is a visit from Claremont Mudd Scripps and Loyola Marymount before the Bruins open up their Pac 12 schedule with a weekend visit to Washington and Oregon.   

Virginia (10-2) comes in at #5 after splitting a pair of matches in Los Angeles with the loss coming to UCLA and the win coming over Loyola Marymount. Virginia faces its toughest conference matches this weekend with the Hoos heading to Chapel Hill to face North Carolina followed up by a visit to Duke. 

Baylor (11-4), Texas (14-3), Illinois (11-5), Georgia (10-5), and Notre Dame (11-4) come in at 6-10.  North Carolina (14-2), Texas A&M (14-5), Cal (9-3), Duke (9-4), and Tennessee (13-6) are 11-15.  Wake Forest (9-5), Florida (7-6), Mississippi State (13-7), Oklahoma State (16-2), and Boise State (13-3) fill the 16-20 spots and coming in at 21-25 are Columbia (10-1), Kentucky (12-4), Clemson (15-2), Vanderbilt (11-5), and North Carolina State (11-4).

Also receiving votes but not garnering enough to make this week’s Top 25 were Northwestern, Memphis, Michigan, Oregon, and Harvard.

The MDTA (Men’s Division 1 Tennis Association) was formed last year to provide a forum for Men’s D1 Coaches to discuss issues that are unique and special to Division 1 Men’s Tennis; for more information about the MDTA you can visit their website at www.mensdivisiononetennis.org .  All Division I Men’s Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are eligible to vote in the poll though they cannot vote for their respective team.  The next coaches poll will be released on April 1st.
