As of June 18, 2014 the College Poker Tour regular season will officially come to a close. For the past three months, over 300 students from 100 different colleges and universities have been competing online in daily, weekly and invitational tournaments to improve their ranking and compete for a chance to represent their school in the 2014 College Poker Tour National Championship for the title of best college poker player in the US.
On June 19 at 3pm EST the Intercollegiate Poker Association (IPA), governing body of college poker, will publish its final selections which will determine who will participate in this year’s event. Automatic bids have already been awarded to 7 of 11 players who have won CPT National Championship Qualifiers. Automatic bids will also be awarded to the top ranked player of each participating college and university. Lastly, the IPA will round out the Championship field qualifying the top 50 ranked players that currently hold CPT Rankings.

The 2014 College Poker Tour National Championship will begin online, Saturday June 21, 2014. Players will be sent invitations prior to the event requiring players to reserve their seat and provide direct communication with a tournament host. Play will continue until the final nine players have been declared. Once decided the tournament will be paused and each player’s chips will be counted and recorded. The nine top remaining players will be named CPT ALL-Americans and will be invited to convene in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 12 for the first annual 2014 College Poker Tour National Championship. While each of our 9 ALL-Americans will be flown to Las Vegas, all expenses paid, the last student standing will be crowned the 2014 College Poker Tour National Champion and awarded our handcrafted Championship Ring. A private celebration and award ceremony will take place following our live event.

BEHIND THE SCENE The final table will feature the finest professional table, tournament director, and dealers, and will be held in a very special tournament setting --- a poker setting custom-designed for the digital generation in one of the hippest locations in Las Vegas, Nevada. Live poker play at the 2014 College Poker Tour National Championship final table will be filmed by ALL IN’s professional video team, with event moderation and color commentary provided by past WSOP winners and poker luminaries. ALL IN will edit the final table footage into an exciting one-hour television special, with plans to air it on one of the major sports or cable networks in late summer or early fall 2014.
