College Tennis News - Broncos Continue Homestand with Arizona and Cal Poly

Boise State looks to get back on track against the Wildcats and Mustangs.

WHAT'S HAPPENING

Boise State is in the middle of a nine-match homestand as the Broncos look to snapped a two-match losing streak when they host the Pac-12's Arizona Wildcats (7-10) and the 65th-ranked Cal Poly Mustangs (9-6) from the Big West Conference. Both matches will be held at the Appleton Tennis Center on campus next to Taco Bell Arena.
Admission: There is no charge to attend Boise State tennis matches.
Parking: There will be one location for free parking on Monday and that will be in the Liberal Arts Parking Lot located to the west of the Appleton Tennis Center.

THE ARIZONA MATCH

The action begins on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. (Mountain) when the Broncos and Wildcats face-off at the Appleton Tennis Center. This is the third of four contests against the Pac-12 this season for the Blue and Orange.

THE CAL POLY MATCH

This weekend's action concludes on Monday afternoon at 4 p.m. when the Broncos take on Cal Poly at the Appleton Tennis Center. The Mustangs are former conference rivals when Boise State was a member of the Big West from 1997-2001. Cal Poly is the second of three matches versus the Big West for the Broncos this year.

NEXT UP FOR BOISE STATE

The Broncos will continue the homestand on Wednesday (March 25) when they host the Stanford Cardinal on at 4 p.m. The contest is scheduled for the Appleton Tennis Center (weather permitting).

REPRESENTING THE BRONCOS

Representing the Broncos this spring are: Brian Foley (11-15 singles, 12-13 doubles), Abe Hewko (11-10 singles, 10-11 doubles), Toby Mitchell (10-12 singles, 12-9 doubles), Danny Moyer (3-6 singles, 1-4 doubles), Garrett Patton (11-8 singles, 11-10 doubles), Lewis Roskilly (8-11 singles, 17-3 doubles) and Thomas Tenreiro (8-13 singles, 12-4 doubles).

TOUGH COMPETITION

As usual Boise State has not shied away from a tough schedule in 2015 which features 28 matches.
Of the 28 matches, 20 will be against teams currently ranked in this week's ITA Top-75: No. 14 Northwestern, No. 21 South Florida, No. 22 Harvard, No. 24 Texas Tech, No. 38 San Diego State, No. 41 Stanford, No. 48 New Mexico, No. 50 Pepperdine (twice), No. 51 Auburn, No. 53 Oregon, No. 61 Penn, No. 65 Cal Poly, No. 66 UC Santa Barbara, No. 72 Utah State, No. 75 UC Irvine.
Boise State is one of five Mountain West members who have been ranked in New Mexico, San Diego State, Nevada, Utah State and UNLV at some point this year.
In all, Boise State will face 19 teams who have been ranked this season.

QUICK LOOK AT BOISE STATE

The Broncos are currently 5-10 overall entering the weekend.
The Broncos went 28-5 overall and finished the 2014 spring duals season ranked 29th.
Boise State at home: The Broncos are 2-2 at home in 2015.
The Blue and Orange went 14-1 at home last season competing at both the Boas Indoor Tennis Center and the Appleton Outdoor Tennis Center.
So far this season the Broncos are 3-8 on the road.
Boise State went 14-4 on the road in 2014.
Greg Patton is in his 19th season as head coach at Boise State where he is 413-160 overall in team duals, his career mark is 764-353 in 35 years.

DEFENDING MW CHAMPIONS

League Champions: Boise State is the three-time defending Mountain West Tournament champion and is undefeated in the event since joining the league for the 2011-12 season.
NCAA Tournament Participant: Boise State advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2014 for the 17th time in school history and the ninth time in the last nine years.

ITA REGIONAL RANKINGS

Boise State has four players regionally ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Regional rankings come out once in the spring semester just before the season starts, they are based on fall results.
Singles: Senior Garrett Patton begins the 2015 dual season ranked ninth in the ITA Mountain Region, while junior Thomas Tenreiro is 10th.
Doubles: In doubles the team of junior Brian Foley and junior Toby Mitchell enter the spring ranked ninth in the region.
