Kevin O'Shea
Texas A&M men's tennis coach Steve Denton announced on October 31, 2012 that Kevin O'Shea has accepted a volunteer assistant coaching position with the Aggie tennis team. O'Shea has served the previous six years as director of tennis operations at Texas A&M.
"I am pleased that Kevin will be able to continue to impact our program as a volunteer assistant coach," Denton said. "Kevin has done a superb job behind the scenes in helping our program in so many areas, but his love is really working with the players."
"After working with Bob (McKinley) and Steve (Denton) for the last six years, my passion for coaching and my desire to get on the court has grown," O'Shea said. "I'm excited to bring my energy, knowledge and love of the game to help develop these young men."
O'Shea had spent nearly 10 years with the United States Tennis Association in Austin before coming to College Station as director of tennis operations for Texas A&M. He is a certified USTA High Performance Coach and a United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Certified Professional 1 Coach. He was named the Capital Area Tennis Association and Austin Chronicle Junior Coach of the Year in 1996 and was also selected as an AAU Junior Olympics Gold Medal Coach in 1995.
O'Shea was a four-year tennis standout at St. Edward's University in Austin. He earned two-time Heart of Texas Academic All-Conference honors and was a Dean's List student. O'Shea graduated in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology.
