No. 6 Rebels Sweep Jackson State
Wednesday, 04/10/2013

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's tennis team moved up a spot to No. 6 in the nation Tuesday, then went out and swept Jackson State 7-0 at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center to improve to 15-6 overall.

"The guys played well today," head coach Billy Chadwick said.  "It was great that we had the opportunity to play some of the other guys in the lineup.  We are looking forward to a big match at Texas A&M Sunday to clinch the SEC West outright."

Freshman Drew Galtney (Houston, Texas) made his debut for the Rebels, playing No. 3 doubles with senior Adrian Forberg Skogeng.  They did not finish their match however, as the top two teams for the Rebels secured 8-2 wins to take the point.

Sophomore William Kallberg played his first match at No. 1 singles, and didn't drop a game to JSU's Ernesto Morales.  Freshman Adriaan du Toit played his first singles match for the Rebels and won 6-0, 6-0 as well, at No. 6.

Redshirt freshman and Oxford native Zach Wilder defeated JSU's Hernan Geria Reines 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles to earn his first dual match singles win and clinch the victory.

Doubles partners Johan Backstrom and Stefan Lindmark followed up with straight set wins on courts three and two and then Forberg Skogeng finished off the scoring at No. 4 singles.

The Rebels clinched at least a share of their 10th SEC West title with Sunday's win over South Carolina and head to College Station with a chance to win it outright.  The match will begin at 1 p.m. and feature live scoring and video.
