COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Ole Miss women’s tennis team wrapped up play at the NCAA Championships Friday, as sophomore Karen Nijssen and freshman Kristi Boxx lost in straight sets to the Baylor team of Csilla Borsayni and Lenka Broosova in the second round of doubles.

After falling behind 5-2 in the first set, Boxx and Nijssen rallied to get back to 5-5.  The set eventually went to a tiebreaker with the Ole Miss duo holding leads of 5-3 and set point at 6-4.  The Baylor tandem then won four straight points to win the set 7-6(6).

Baylor carried the momentum of winning the first set over to the second and quickly gained an early break to go up 2-0. They went on to win the set 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals and snap Boxx and Nijssen’s five-match winning streak.

Boxx and Nijssen, ranked No. 16 in the nation, end the year with a 27-9 overall record.  Both helped the Rebels end the year ranked No. 21 in the nation.
