USC's Robert Farah and Steve Johnson are practically US Open veterans by now. At least, they've each already made their respective debuts at the Grand Slam event, as they each now settle in for another go in main draw competition at the 2012 US Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
The back-to-back NCAA singles champion and four-time NCAA team champ Steve Johnson has another wildcard into the singles main draw out at the US Open. His first round opponent will be announced on August 23 when the draw is released. In Johnson's US Open debut in 2011, he took Russia's Alex Bogomolov Jr. into a tense five-set match before taking the loss.
Robert Farah -- teammates with Johnson for the 2009 and 2010 NCAA Team Championships -- is underway in US Open singles qualifying, and holds a spot in the main draw for doubles with his fellow Colombian teammate Juan Cabal The doubles draw will be announced August 27. Singles qualifying rounds begin today (Aug. 21), and Farah is lined up against Austria's Martin Fischer. Farah's US Open experience kicked off in 2011, as he played in the singles first round and reached the doubles second round with Cabal.
