UT junior All-American Aeriel Ellis needs only one game to secure her berth in Monday’s semifinals.
FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas junior Aeriel Ellis needed little time to advance to the singles semifinals of the ITA Texas Regional Championships Sunday at TCU’s Friedman Tennis Center.
Ellis took a 1-0 lead on Baylor’s Jordaan Sanford in the opening set of their quarterfinal match before Sanford retired due to an illness. Ellis moves on to Monday’s semifinals and will take on Texas A&M’s Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar at 12:30 p.m. Central.
The Texas doubles pairs of Cierra Gaytan-Leach/Noel Scott and Krista Damico/Ellis were unable to stave off elimination from the doubles draw. Ellis is the lone Longhorn remaining in the singles and doubles draws.
