Ellis falls in singles semifinals at ITA Texas Regionals

UT junior Aeriel Ellis now will set her sights on the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoors in New York City.
FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas junior Aeriel Ellis was eliminated from the main singles draw Monday afternoon on day four of the ITA Texas Regional Championships at TCU’s Friedman Tennis Center.
In the semifinals of the main singles draw, Ellis trailed Texas A&M’s Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar 3-2 in the first set and retired due to an illness.
Ellis, however, earned her eight consecutive berth into a national championship event by winning her round-of-16 match on Saturday. Ellis competed in her seventh national championship event, the ITA All-American Championships, earlier this month and is set to compete at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships next month in New York City.
