No. 22 Women's Tennis blanks Iowa State, 7-0

AUSTIN, Texas - No. 22 Texas (7-7, 3-0 Big 12) made a clean sweep of singles and doubles action Thursday afternoon, as the Longhorns posted a 7-0 win over Big 12 Conference foe Iowa State at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center.

UT's Elizabeth Begley and Aeriel Ellis led off with an 8-1 win over Iowa State's Simona Cacciuttolo and Caroline Andersen at second doubles. The Longhorns clinched the doubles point at first doubles where UT's 19th-ranked tandem of Breaunna Addison and Noel Scott notched an 8-3 win over ISU's Jenna Langhorst and Ksenia Pronina. UT's Lana Groenvynck and Padegimaite added an 8-4 win over ISU's Emma Waites and Meghan Cassens at third doubles.

Texas quickly clinched the team victory behind singles wins at the fifth, second and sixth positions from Padegimaite, Addison and Groenvynck. With the team win in hand, Scott added a 6-4, 6-2 win over Cassens at third singles. Begley notched a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ana Gasparovic at fourth singles, and UT's 42nd-ranked Ellis finished off Cacciuttolo, 6-1, 6-4 at first singles.

Texas returns to action on Friday when it hosts No. 10 Miami (Fla.) at 2 p.m. CT. The match will be televised live on Longhorn Network.
