Conchie Shackelford
The best coach in Sewanee women's tennis history, Conchie Shackelford is in her 18th season at Sewanee (2003-04). Her career record (17 seasons; 1987-2003) is 291-116 (71.5%).

John Shackelford, Conchie's husband, is in his 19th year as the Sewanee men's tennis coach. His career record is 283-165 (63.2%).

A native of Jacksonville, N.C., Conchie earned her bachelor's degree in 1982 from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, majoring in business. She played varsity tennis at Jacksonville High School and UNC-Wilmington.
She and John have four children; Avery, 11, Sadie, 10, and Michaela, 8 and Tessa, 2.
Shackelford’s guiding philosophy has been to combine hard work and fun with each student’s educational experience.
