Alabama’s Guarachi and Macfarlane Head West for All-American Championships
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama senior Alexa Guarachi and junior Mary Anne Macfarlane will represent the Crimson Tide once again at the Riviera/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Women’s All-American Championships, which are being held at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. The qualifying round of singles for Guarachi begins on Tuesday, while main draw competition starts on Thursday.
Guarachi and Macfarlane were selected to compete in the prestigious tournament based on their preseason rankings. Guarachi begins the season at No. 36 in singles, while Macfarlane stands at No. 10. Together, the duo ranks 17th in the doubles poll. The top 24 singles players and top 20 doubles teams are automatically placed in the main draw of the tournament.
Singles quarterfinalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions in the main draw will receive automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 8-11, which is held at the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
