McMorrow Nets Second NCAA Singles Bid
Thursday, 05/03/2012

SEATTLE – As one of the top-25 singles players in the country all season, it was a bit of a foregone conclusion that junior Kyle McMorrow would earn a spot in his second straight NCAA Singles Championships. But it was made official today as the 64-player field was announced on NCAA.com. McMorrow will compete in the singles championships starting May 23 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.

McMorrow is the first Husky since Alex Slovic to earn multiple NCAA singles bids. He and the rest of the Husky men’s tennis team learned they would be heading to Malibu, Calif. to start the NCAA Team Championships on May 11 with a first round match against North Carolina State. After the team tourney wraps up, McMorrow will look to make a run in the singles draw.

The native of Thousand Oaks, Calif. has a 22-11 overall singles record this year, and has been ranked as high as No. 9 nationally, most recently ranking 22nd. He posted five wins this year over players that made the singles draw, including two wins over No. 6 seed Evan King of Michigan.

McMorrow qualified for the singles tournament last year as a sophomore, falling in the first round. The bracket will be announced shortly before the tourney
