In keeping with the birthday theme, Wingate sophomore Kelli Ferguson (Concord, N.C.) celebrated her birthday with two victories for the hosts. Ferguson’s singles victory clinched the triumph for the Bulldogs, giving Wingate its 15th dual match victory of the season.

Ferguson and senior Kara Stasikelis (Greer, S.C.) outlasted Mars Hill’s Erika Pinate and

Anna Rickenbaker 9-7 in the number one doubles match. Ferguson defeated Jacqueline Rouquet 6-2, 7-5 in the number five singles match, giving Wingate its fifth point.

Ferguson and freshmen teammates Morgan Winston (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and Olivia Poole (Boca Raton, Fla.) won two matches each. Winston and Poole collected an 8-5 triumph over Ona Jane and Mary Nelson in the number three doubles match. Winston defeated Jane 6-2, 6-0 at the number three singles flight, while Poole edged Rickenbaker (in three sets) at the number four singles flight. Poole prevailed 6-1, 5-7, 6-1.
