BOISE, Idaho - Bronco men's tennis coach Greg Patton announced the signing of Brendan McClain and Abe Hewko to a National Letter of Intent, Friday, both of whom are top-25 recruits for the class of 2013 and will join the team next fall. Brendan McClain, a native of Ventura, Calif., is the No. 9 prospect in the country according to TennisRecruiting.net. The California resident boasts a successful resume as a top player in Southern California, a semifinalist at the National Championships earlier this summer in doubles, and a singles title at the USTA National Open in May.

"I chose Boise state is because I felt it would be the best fit for me," said McClain. "I really like the team as well as the coaches. I knew that I would have the best possible support team that would want me to succeed, and help me reach my goals. They are one big family that helps each other, and that's where I belong."

Hewko, a native of Palm Desert, Calif., is currently ranked 22nd in the TennisRecruiting.net RPI Rankings. The five-star recruit was a California CIF team champion in 2011 and 2012, and was a finalist at the USTA National Open in September.

"Boise State's coaches are incredible," Hewko said. "They've coached many good players and have the program that can get me to the next level. I met a bunch of great guys, they're like a family. They have a great training facility and the whole town is a college atmosphere."

"I definitely feel that we struck Gold this recruiting season by signing Brendan and Abe," said Patton. "We undoubtedly had one of the strongest recruiting classes in college tennis to be able to land a top-10 player in Brendan and a player ranked in the top 25 in Abe. The positive ramifications will not only impact Boise State but also sends a strong Bronco presence in the tennis-fertile landscape of the California tennis community."
