The top-ranked University of Florida women’s tennis team launches its 41st season of varsity competition this week playing three matches in five days at the Ring Tennis Complex.

The Gators play host to South Florida on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Admission is free and the first 200 fans receive stress balls!

Fans will be able to park in the UF Law School parking lot, located directly next to the Tennis Complex, as parking restrictions have been lifted for the match.

Individually, the 2012-13 Gator roster features a pair of seniors in Lauren Embree (Marco Island, Fla.) and Caroline Hitimana (Waterloo, Belgium), and a trio of juniors in Alexandra Cercone (Seminole, Fla.), Olivia Janowicz (Palm Bay, Fla.) and Sofie Oyen (Leopoldsburg, Belgium), while welcoming freshmen Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Brianna Morgan (Beverly Hills, Calif.).

Florida is 50-1 all-time against South Florida, including a 29-0 record in Gainesville. The last meeting between the two programs was a 7-0 Gator win on Feb. 7, 2012, in Gainesville. Florida’s lone loss in the series was a 5-3 setback on April 1, 1986, in Tampa. Since that loss, the Gators have won 23 consecutive matches against the Bulls.

The Gators defeated Troy in their first dual match of 2012 and improved to 37-3 all-time in season-opening dual matches. UF has won 28 consecutive season-openers, with the last loss a 7-2 setback at Miami on Feb. 1, 1985.

Florida owns an impressive 193-33 record against in-state rivals and has reeled off 15 straight victories against Sunshine State opponents, with the most recent a 4-0 win against Miami on May 19, 2012 in the 2012 NCAA quarterfinals.

Florida boasts a remarkable 442-25 all-time home record when playing in Gainesville, including a 12-0 record in 2011-12.

Florida finished 12-0 at home during 2011-12 and extended its overall program-record home winning streak of 107, which includes 19 wins in postseason play (SEC and NCAA Tournament). The Gators set a new standard with their 6-1 victory over Mississippi State on March 29, 2009, passing the previous record of 60. The last time the Gators fell at home was on May 15, 2004, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to Miami (Fla.), 4-3.

Florida (10-0 at home in 2011-12) has won 112 consecutive regular-season home matches - not including SEC Tournament or NCAA Championship events. The current streak is the longest of its kind in program history, passing the 71 in a row compiled from 1994-2001. The Gators last regular-season setback at Linder Stadium was on April 7, 2002, when Georgia defeated Florida, 4-3.
