MINNEAPOLIS – The No. 38 Boise State men’s tennis team will look to snap a four-match skid when it hits the road to face No. 44 Minnesota in Minneapolis, Saturday followed by a neutral-site match against No. 35 Louisville, Sunday. Saturday’s match will begin at 3 p.m. CT with Sunday’s match slated for 11:30 a.m.

In the Rankings - The Broncos were picked 38th in the first Campbell’s/ITA National Team Rankings, the highest of any Mountain West team.
Junior Andy Bettles is currently ranked the 28th-best singles player in the nation after a 7-3 fall season and will look to lead the Broncos this spring. Bettles is ranked third in the Mountain Region while teammate Nathan Sereke sits 11th.
Scouting No. 44 Minnesota – The Gophers are only 1-4 this season and also enter the weekend on a four-match losing streak, dropping a pair of 4-3 matches last weekend against Tulsa and Arkansas. Minnesota has a pair of players ranked in the ITA singles top 100. Rok Bonin sits 49th while Leandro Toledo is 63rd. Meanwhile Bonin and Mathieu Froment combine to make the 24th-ranked doubles team in the country.
Scouting No. 35 Louisville – The Cardinals enter the weekend with a 4-4 record this spring. Most recently, the Cardinals sprung an upset victory over No. 19 North Carolina. The Cards are led by Chris Simich, who holds a team-best 15-7 record, and Sebastian Stiefelmeyer, who sits at No. 82 in the ITA singles rankings.
Early Schedule: Boise State faces a grueling stretch in the early going of the 2013 season. The Broncos have already faced No. 14 Cal, No. 35 Santa Clara twice and No. 23 Washington. This weekend the team will take on another pair of ranked opponents with No. 26 San Diego and No. 66 San Diego State waiting next weekend. In total the Broncos will have faced eight ranked opponents in a row, all on the road.
No Place Like Home – Boise State owns a 21-match home win streak after going a perfect 19-0 at home last season. The last Bronco loss in Boise came during the WAC Championships in 2011 in a 4-3 defeat against Fresno State.
About the Broncos – Boise State enters the season as defending Mountain West Champions, going a perfect 7-0 against conference opponents in 2012. This year’s team is led by a pair of juniors, Andy Bettles and Nathan Sereke who will man the top two spots for Boise State while seniors Filipp Pogostkin and Scott Sears will give the Broncos strength in the middle of the lineup. Three new faces to the roster will fight to fill out the order as Patton welcomes freshmen Brian Foley, Toby Mitchell and Thomas Tenreiro to the squad.
