ORLANDO, FLA. -- USC junior Roberto Quiroz made himself at home once again on the clay courts in Orlando, Fla., in sliding his way successfully to his second straight singles crown at the USTA Clay Court Invitational at Disney. Today's action saw Quiroz first go up against teammate Max de Vroome in the semifinals in order to earn the right to defend his title.
In that semifinal, de Vroome certainly put up a fight against his elder Trojan teammate, as the sophomore forced a third set in the semi by stealing away the second set from Quiroz. The junior would settle in and snag the spot in the title match, however, beating out his sophomore teammate de Vroome with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 decision.
In the championship, Quiroz was up against USTA up-and-comer Martin Redlicki. The first set was a battle, but Quiroz was up to the challenge and pulled out the 7-5 win in the first. In the second, Quiroz was in cruise control. The Ecuadorian Trojan silenced Redlicki down the stretch to lock in on a 7-5, 6-0 victory that hauled in Quiroz' second straight Clay Court Invitational title.

The next competition for de Vroome, Quiroz and the rest of the Trojans will come in a couple weeks in another cross-country adventure. USC will send several players out to the ITA National Indoor Championships in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. from Nov. 7-10.
