ATHENS, Ga.—Mariana Gould signed a national letter-of-intent and will join the Georgia women’s tennis program next fall. Gould is currently training at Smith Stearns Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, S.C.

Gould, a five-star blue chip recruit, is ranked No. 19 in the Class of 2014 according to TennisRecruiting.net. She has been ranked as high at No. 5 in her class’s recruiting rankings.

The daughter of Jay and Lucy Gould, she is coached by B.J. Stearns and Jolene Watanabe.

“Everyone at the University of Georgia is very excited that Mariana is going to be joining us next year,” said head coach Jeff Wallace. “She has had an outstanding juniors career and we’re looking forward to helping her develop into a top college player.”

A Boise, Idaho, native, Gould’s junior’s career is highlighted by two doubles Gold Balls. A gold ball is a recognition given in juniors tennis to top finishers at high level U.S. Juniors events.

“I can’t wait to get to Athens and become a Georgia Bulldog,” Gould said. “During my college search, I visited other schools in the SEC and nothing compared to Georgia. I love Georgia’s atmosphere and tradition.”

The weeklong fall signing period ends on Wednesday.
