NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 8 Texas A&M men’s tennis team shutout No. 18 Vanderbilt Sunday afternoon at the Currey Tennis Center in just over two hours in Nashville, Tenn.

“This was the most dominating performance against a good team on the road that we have experienced since I have been at A&M,” head coach Steve Denton said. “I am very proud of how we responded after a tough loss on Friday night.”

The Aggies (12-5, 3-1) made quick work of the Commodores (11-3, 2-1) to capture the doubles point in just less than 40 minutes. The No. 37 ranked duo of Jeremy Efferding and Jordan Szabo swept Suresh Eswaran and Jeffery Offerdahl on doubles court three. Not too long afterwards Shane Vinsant and Harrison Adams captured the first seven points en route to an 8-1 victory clinching the point.

“We really played well in doubles today,” Denton said. “That set the stage for us to carry that momentum in to the singles matches as well.”

Texas A&M continued their form of play from doubles taking the first set on all six courts. Jackson Withrow worked quickly to defeat Anton Kovrigin on court five in straight sets to put A&M ahead 2-0.

Shortly after Withrow’s win No. 38 Efferding defeated Rhys Johnson on court three to put the Aggies ahead 3-0. Szabo clinched the match for A&M on court six with a straight set win over Offerdahl.

The Aggies will keep to the road next weekend taking on Arkansas and LSU, Friday and Sunday respectively. Stay tuned to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieMTEN on Twitter for coverage of Texas A&M men’s tennis.
