LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Boise State’s dream of advancing deep into the NCAA tournament came to a end Saturday morning when the Broncos stumbled in the opening round falling to No. 39 San Diego 4-2 in a hard fought men’s tennis match at Los Angeles. The 25th-ranked Broncos opened by winning their 19th-straight doubles point. Toby Mitchell led the Broncos by recording a win in doubles and the only one singles victory of the match for the Blue and Orange.

Sereke concludes his senior campaign at 16-13 in singles on the year, while Patton finishes at 26-13.

Vittek gave San Diego the lead at 3-2 following his come from behind victory over Tenreiro. The Bronco won the opening frame but could not put Vittek away as the Teroro rallied to defeat Tenreiro 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. The Boise State sophomore finishes the season at 20-14 overall.

The decisive point came on court one where two nationally ranked players battled in Boise State’s No. 87 Andy Bettles and USD’s No. 58 Clarke Spinosa.
